Furthermore, you can set different rules for each category. For example, a 'Safety Circular' can be set to require mandatory acknowledgement from senior officers, while a general 'HR Update' might be for reading only. We have a specific 'Temporary Bulletin' feature designed for this. When you create a temporary instruction, you can set an automatic expiry date. The bulletin is visible and marked as active on the vessel's system until that date. The day after it expires, it is automatically moved to an 'Archived/Expired' section and clearly watermarked as 'No Longer Valid.' This prevents the crew from accidentally referencing and following outdated operational guidance.
Our system maintains a complete and un-editable version history for every circular. If you revise a bulletin, the old version is automatically superseded but is never deleted. It is moved to the document's history log. You can select any vessel and any date in the past and see exactly which version of the circular was active on that vessel at that time, and who had acknowledged it. This provides a precise, defensible record that is invaluable during an official inquiry.
